May 22, 2009 - Tiger Stars Fight MS

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - John Calipari may have left town with everything but the kitchen sink, but he didn't get the teams Graduate Manager, Scott Robinson. And in 2 weeks Robinson is hosting the 2nd Annual It's All Good Basketball Weekend, featuring former Tigers like DeAngelo Williams, Penny Hardaway, and many more. FOX13's Marcus Hunter looks at how this all got started.

May 17, 2009 - U of M fundraiser all good

Last summer, Scott Robinson threw together a basketball tournament practically at the last minute and ended up with roughly 2,200 fans over two days coming to Elma Roane Fieldhouse to watch Memphis-area legends like Penny Hardaway and Thaddeus Young take home the title.

Robinson, the head graduate manager for the University of Memphis men's basketball program, has even bigger plans for this year's "It's All Good Memphis Weekend" presented by the Tiger Gift Shop.

Jun 30, 2008 - Team Penny wins charity event with help of Young

Tournament organizer Scott Robinson, a graduate assistant coach at Memphis, said he hoped to make the Showdown an annual event, one that next year he hoped would include former Tiger point guard Derrick Rose, who earlier this week was selected No. 1 overall in the NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls.

"We couldn't have asked for a better turnout," said Robinson, who organized the tournament as a tribute to Cui Wanjun, the Chinese coach who observed the Tigers last season as an intern.

"Next year we want to reach out to everybody that played at Memphis. We want everybody to come."

Jun 29, 2008 - U of M Legends bounce back to win charity game

McKenzie's Legends team, which included former Tiger basketball stars Bobby Parks and Lorenzen Wright and Memphis assistant coaches Rod Strickland and Orlando Antigua, was certainly one of the more "mature" squads in the tournament's eight-team field.

Yet despite its collective age, Team Legends managed to squeeze out a 68-66 victory over an athletic Team Dion Berry thanks to a pair of clutch free throws in the closing seconds from Strickland, a 17-year NBA veteran who finished with a team-high 22 points.

Jun 28, 2008 - Former Tigers set for charity tourney

Penny Hardaway was attempting to stack the deck in his favor in anticipation of this weekend's "It's All Good Memphis Showdown" at Elma Roane Field House.

Hardaway, the former University of Memphis basketball star, wanted a fellow former Tiger, Cedric Henderson, to play for Team Penny in the eight-team event, which begins this morning at 9 and concludes with Sunday's 3:15 p.m. championship game.

Henderson, however, had other plans.

"Penny called up Cedric to put him on his team, and Cedric said, 'No. I'm playing for Jeremy Hunt,' said Memphis graduate assistant coach Bryan Settle, who, along with fellow Tiger graduate assistant Scott Robinson, organized the two-day event.
